Description
Simcoe Posterior Capsule Polisher with Reverse Aperture
The Simcoe reverse aperture polisher is a curved irrigating tool for cleaning the posterior capsule after cortex removal. Its port faces a different way from a standard polisher. So it reaches areas that a forward-facing opening may miss.
What reverse aperture means here
On many polishers, the opening faces the capsule. On this Simcoe design, the aperture sits in reverse. In practice, this changes where the flow and the textured surface meet the tissue. Surgeons who prefer it often cite better access to the subincisional area. Still, it takes a few cases to get used to the new direction of flow.
The curved edge type
This item lists one edge type: curved. The curve lets the tip follow the bowl of the capsular bag. It also keeps the hub away from the brow during work under the incision. Summary:
- Edge type: curved
- Reverse facing aperture
- Irrigating shaft with syringe fitting
- Polishing tip for posterior capsule work
Gentle polishing technique
Keep the bag full with fluid or viscoelastic. Then sweep the tip in short, light strokes. Too much pressure can tear the capsule, so let the surface do the work. Also, watch the red reflex for remaining plaque after each pass.
After the case
Flush the bore with water at once, then with a mild cleaner. Next, brush the polishing face gently and dry it with air. It ships non-sterile. Still, the Simcoe reverse aperture polisher is reusable after each full cleaning and sterilization cycle.
