Description
Sheets Irrigating Vectus Cannula
The Sheets irrigating vectis is a flat, scoop-like tool with an irrigating channel. It supports the nucleus and helps ease it out of the eye with fluid. The product name lists it as a vectus, a common spelling of vectis.
Vectis shape and purpose
A vectis is a broad, slightly cupped plate. First, it slides under the nucleus. Then it lifts the nucleus toward the wound. Meanwhile, fluid adds a gentle push from behind. As a result, delivery needs less pressure on the globe. Many manual small incision surgeons rely on this style.
What you get
Because only one Sheets pattern exists here, there is nothing to choose. Each unit includes:
- Broad vectis plate
- Irrigating channel with ports
- Hub for a syringe or line
- Reusable stainless construction
Delivery steps
First, confirm the tunnel is wide enough for the nucleus. Then slide the vectis under it with fluid running. Lift gently and draw it out along the tunnel. Also, keep the plate away from the posterior capsule.
Vectis or loop
A vectis gives a broader support surface than a wire loop. However, a loop may fit a smaller wound. So choose the vectis for larger nuclei and the loop for tighter tunnels. Many surgeons keep both nearby.
Rinsing the vectis plate
Rinse the plate and flush the channel as soon as you finish. Next, soak, brush and rinse again. Then dry the channel with air. The Sheets irrigating vectis comes to you non-sterile; with cleaning and steam it can be used again and again.
Sheets vectis warranty
A Sheets vectis bought from Intrace has three years against manufacturing defects written into its warranty. Its steel sits within ASTM F899. Also, see manual small incision tools in our range. For a wire loop, view the Knolle-Pearce lens loop. Still unsure? The Intrace FAQs may help.
