Description
Sheen Marker 70x40mm
The Sheen marker is a template for outlining an area on the skin. It measures 70 x 40 mm, giving a repeatable shape for planning.
Why a template
Freehand outlines vary from side to side. In addition, a template draws the same shape every time. Consequently, symmetry improves.
Where the Sheen marker is used
Plastic surgeons use it in planning flaps and excisions. It also helps in nasal and facial work. Additionally, many keep it with their other markers.
Using it
Place the template where planned and hold it steady. Then trace around it with a skin marker. Check the outline before starting.
Size
At 70 x 40 mm, it covers a moderate area. For smaller shapes, choose a smaller template. Meanwhile, this size suits most mid-sized plans.
Care in use
Clean ink off between patients. Also, check the edge is straight before each use. Also, a bent template draws a bent line.
Planning with the Sheen marker
First, mark the midline and key landmarks with a pen. After that, set the template against those points and trace. Because the shape never changes, a second surgeon can repeat the outline exactly. This helps in teaching cases too.
