Description
Semken Dressing & Tissue Forceps
Semken forceps are a short, fine pattern with slim tips. They suit plastic, vascular and general surgery.
Serrated or 1:2
The serrated Semken tip grips thread and fine tissue. Meanwhile, 1:2 teeth grip skin edges securely.
Straight or curved
Straight tips give direct control. By contrast, curved tips reach around structures.
Carbide option
The carbide version has 1:2 teeth at 16 and 18 cm. So the grip lasts much longer.
Choosing a pair
Many surgeons keep a short Semken pair for skin and a curved pair for deeper work. Then a carbide pair covers the busiest lists. Also, the short sizes give fine control at the wound edge. In addition, Semken forceps suit vascular and plastic work, where a short, fine tip gives control. Meanwhile, the carbide version holds its teeth longer. So many surgeons keep a Semken pair as their everyday fine forceps. Also, the Semken forceps help in hand and vascular work, where a short body keeps the fingers close to the field. For example, a 13 cm curved pair suits vessel handling.
Reprocessing Semken forceps
Rinse the Semken tips before blood dries. Next, dry the forceps and inspect the fine points. Then store them with the tips covered.
