Description
Lane Tissue Forceps
Lane forceps are a sturdy tissue pattern with a firm grip. They come in 14.5, 15 and 20 cm lengths.
1:2 or 2:3 teeth
With 1:2 teeth, the tips take a crisp, dependable bite. Meanwhile, the 2:3 option shares the load between five teeth.
Three lengths
The 14.5 and 15 cm sizes suit surface work. By contrast, the 20 cm size reaches deeper layers.
A solid build
The arms stay stiff under pressure. So they hold dense tissue well.
Where they fit
Lane forceps suit general and orthopaedic trays. Then a finer forceps handles the skin edge. Also, the 2:3 version helps on tissue that tears easily. In addition, the pattern suits orthopaedic and general closure, where tissue is thick. Meanwhile, the 20 cm size reaches deeper layers. Therefore many trays carry a short and a long pair. Also, this pattern helps during orthopaedic closure, where fascia and muscle are thick. For example, a 15 cm 1:2 pair suits most limb closures. Meanwhile, the 2:3 version suits softer muscle layers where a single tooth might slip.
Cleaning Lane forceps
Wash between the Lane teeth after use. Next, brush the tips and dry the forceps. Then check that the teeth still meet before sterilization.
