Description
Scoville-Haverfield Retractor Hinge Joint Frame only
This Scoville-Haverfield retractor frame forms the base of a self-retaining spinal retractor. You add blades to suit each case, so one frame covers many wound depths.
Frame and blades
The frame holds the blades apart once the surgeon opens it. As a result, the wound stays open without an assistant pulling. The hinge joint lets the arms follow the wound.
Size
We list the frame at 150 mm. We sell it without blades, so you choose those separately. Contact us to confirm which blades fit your frame.
Use in spine surgery
Surgeons often use Scoville-Haverfield retractors during laminectomy and disc surgery. First, they place the blades against the muscle. Then they open the frame until exposure looks right.
Setting up your system
Start with the frame, then add two or more blade sizes. For instance, a shallow and a deep blade cover most patients. Send us a note on the cases you do, and we can suggest a starter combination.
Caring for your Scoville-Haverfield retractor frame
Open the frame fully before cleaning, so you reach the hinge and joint areas. Then brush them with detergent under running water. Dry completely, lubricate the hinge and sterilize the frame open.
