Description
Scoville Bone Curette
The Scoville bone curette scrapes bone and disc material in deep spinal and cranial sites. Its long reach suits the depth of many spinal exposures.
Scraping at depth
Curettes remove tissue with a pulling stroke rather than a push. So the surgeon places the cup against bone or disc and draws it back. As a result, each stroke removes only a thin layer, which keeps the work controlled.
Length
We offer the Scoville at 25 cm. So it helps in lumbar discectomy and in other deep spinal work. For cup size details, contact us and we will confirm.
In a disc operation
After the surgeon removes most disc material with a rongeur, the curette cleans what remains. For example, it scrapes loose fragments off the endplates. Then irrigation washes the space clear.
Choosing a curette
Straight long curettes like this one suit direct access, for instance straight down a lumbar exposure. However, angled curettes reach behind edges. Many surgeons keep both styles for complete coverage.
Caring for your Scoville bone curette
Flush the cup soon after use so debris cannot harden. Next, clean inside the cup with a fitted brush and neutral cleaner. Dry the curette thoroughly and sterilize it on your standard cycle.
