Description
Ray Curette, 45°
The Ray curette is an angled curette for scraping bone and soft tissue. Spine surgeons use it to clean disc spaces and endplates, and neurosurgeons use it around bone edges.
The benefit of a 45 degree angle
A straight curette cannot always reach behind an edge. So the 45 degree angle lets the cup reach under bone lips and into corners. Then the surgeon scrapes toward themselves with controlled strokes.
Size and orientation
We offer the Ray curette at 18 cm with a 4 mm cup. Also, you can choose horizontal or vertical orientation for the 45 degree angle. The two versions let you work side to side or up and down.
In spinal surgery
After disc removal, surgeons often use a curette to clean the endplates. They also remove small pieces of ligament or bone near the canal. Meanwhile, a nerve root retractor protects the root.
Horizontal or vertical?
Think about the direction of your usual scraping stroke. Horizontal suits lateral movement, while vertical suits movement along the spine, so the choice follows your stroke. Many surgeons buy both for full coverage.
Caring for your Ray curette
First, clear bone and tissue from the cup right after the case. Brush inside the cup with a small brush and a gentle cleaner. Then rinse, dry fully, and sterilize following your usual method.
