Description
Scheibe Tissue and Organ Holding Forceps
The Scheibe tissue forceps hold organs and tissue securely in abdominal and general surgery. A ratchet keeps the jaws closed, so the assistant can hold traction without squeezing.
Three lengths
We offer 18, 20 and 23 cm. Shorter lengths suit superficial work. Meanwhile, the 23 cm reaches deep in the abdomen.
Why the Scheibe tissue forceps
The jaws spread pressure across the tissue. As a result, they hold firmly with less crushing. That helps when the tissue will remain in the patient.
Typical procedures
General and abdominal surgeons use them during bowel and organ work. For example, they hold a bowel edge during anastomosis. They also retract tissue in deep fields.
Technique
Close to the first ratchet step and check the grip. Then add steps only if needed. Also, release now and then during long cases.
Choosing a length
Match the length to the depth of the field. For instance, 23 cm suits pelvic work. However, 18 cm suits superficial tissue.
