Description
Scalpel Handle #5
The scalpel handle #5 takes the same small blades as a #3, sizes #10 to #15. The difference lies in the grip, so this listing offers five styles and lets you choose by feel.
Five grips, one fitting
Our Straight style has a flat, knurled body that stays put on a tray. By contrast, the round styles let you roll the handle between your fingers as you follow a curve. Meanwhile, the Round Solid Grip adds weight to the hand, while the Round Hollow Grip keeps the instrument light. Each round grip measures 15 cm.
How to pick a scalpel handle #5
Think about how you hold a scalpel. If you grip it like a pen for short, precise cuts, a round body usually feels natural. However, if you prefer a flat handle that shows you where the blade edge faces, the straight style gives that cue by touch.
Cleaning the grip
Knurling and hollow grips trap debris, so brush them with care after each case. Then rinse, dry and check that the fitting still holds a blade firmly before you pack the handle for sterilization.
Round Handle and Fig.5A
Besides the two 15 cm round grips, the listing includes a Round Handle and a Fig.5A option. Both share the #5 fitting, so any blade from #10 to #15 fits either one. If you want a lighter feel, compare the Round Hollow Grip first. Otherwise, the Straight style remains the simplest everyday choice.
