Sanders Gingivectomy Knives
Gingivectomy and gingivoplasty call for a blade that reaches around the arch and cuts soft tissue cleanly. The Sanders gingivectomy knife is a named periodontal pattern for that work. Intrace USA, a distributor based in Atlanta, offers two figures, and each knife receives a hand examination in the United States before it is packed.
Two Sanders Figures
Our supplier shows both Sanders figures on the same periodontal page:
- Fig. ½: the first Sanders pairing, written in the catalogue as one-half.
- Fig. 4/5: the second Sanders pairing, listed directly beside it.
Since the catalogue gives no blade measurements, the photos are your best comparison. Many periodontists keep both figures so they can choose the figure that suits each site.
Where Sanders Knives Fit in Soft Tissue Surgery
Typically, the surgeon marks the pocket depth first and then makes the primary incision. After that, a narrower blade refines the interdental areas. Gingivectomy knives like these handle the hand-cut steps, while sutures and dressings complete the procedure. Because the pattern is named, you can match it directly to a protocol from training.
Choosing Between Fig. ½ and Fig. 4/5
If your current tray holds one of these figures, order the same label to keep the set consistent. Otherwise, start with Fig. ½ and add Fig. 4/5 once you know which approach you prefer. In addition, buying both together gives you a complete Sanders pair for a single surgical cassette.
Keeping the Edge Ready
Soft tissue knives need a keen edge, so plan regular sharpening and inspect the blade after each use. They ship non-sterile; clean, dry and autoclave each knife before surgery. Our coverage extends three years against manufacturing defects.
The knives use stainless steel per ASTM F899. Explore further periodontal surgery tools in Diagnostic, Periodontal and Restorative Instruments, compare Orban Gingivectomy Knives for interdental incisions, or read our customer FAQ page.
