Description
Saenger Placenta and Ovum Forceps
Saenger placenta forceps remove retained products of conception from the uterus. We offer them in 25 cm curved, 28 cm straight and 30 cm curved versions.
Three versions
Each version pairs a length with a shaft shape. So the range covers short curved, mid straight and long curved needs. Also, the sizes follow our site labels for easy ordering.
Curved or straight
A curve helps the jaws follow the uterine axis toward the fundus. By contrast, a straight shaft offers simple, direct control. So many units keep one of each.
Clinical use
Clinicians use these forceps for retained tissue after miscarriage or delivery. Also, they help during surgical evacuation alongside a curette. Therefore, they belong on both obstetric and gynecology trays.
Which size to order
Choose the 25 cm curved size for early pregnancy or a small uterus. However, the 30 cm curved Saenger placenta forceps suit the larger postpartum uterus. Then the 28 cm straight version fills the middle ground.
Cleaning Saenger placenta forceps
Separate any debris from the jaws under cool running water first. Then wash the instrument in an ultrasonic cleaner or by hand with a soft brush. Finally, dry it, check the tips meet evenly and send it for sterilization.
