Description
Sachse Catheter Introducing Instrument
A ring handled instrument with a long angled shaft, made for taking a catheter tip and placing it accurately. The angle between the shaft and the handles is the working feature: it keeps the hand and the rings below the line of sight so the tip stays visible throughout the pass.
Thumbscrew
A thumbscrew on the shank sets how far the jaws close. Set once for the catheter caliber in use, it gives a repeatable grip that holds the tube without flattening it, which a plain ratchet cannot do across a range of sizes.
Shaft lengths
The pattern is catalogued in three shaft lengths, 10 cm, 20 cm and 28 cm. Shaft length is chosen by the depth of the approach rather than by preference, so check the length you need before ordering.
Care
Back the thumbscrew fully out before reprocessing so the thread and the slot behind it are exposed, and brush both. A thumbscrew left set and wet is where these instruments seize. Dry thoroughly and store with the jaws open and the screw slack.
