Description
S-Shaped Metzenbaum-Fine Dissecting Scissors
S-shaped Metzenbaum scissors have a double curve along the shank. This shape keeps your hand out of the line of sight in deep fields.
Three lengths
The 18 cm size suits moderate depth. Meanwhile, the 20 and 23 cm sizes reach deeper.
The S-shape
The shank bends one way and the blades the other. So the tips reach around structures while your view stays clear.
Tungsten carbide option
Every length also comes with tungsten carbide inserts. These keep the fine edge for longer.
Where the curve helps
Deep pelvic and thoracic work often forces the hand into the view. Instead, the S-shape moves the hand aside. Also, the fine blades suit dissection close to vessels. Then a straight pattern handles the easier steps. Because the double curve takes a little getting used to, try it first on a routine case. After that, most surgeons find it natural. Then it becomes the default pair for deep, narrow approaches.
Cleaning S-shaped Metzenbaum scissors
Clean the blades and joint gently. Next, rinse and dry fully. Then store the scissors flat so the shank keeps its shape.
