Description
Metzenbaum-Fine Dissecting Scissors
Metzenbaum-Fine scissors are a slimmer version of the Metzenbaum. They suit delicate dissection at every depth.
Seven lengths
Sizes run from 14.5 to 30 cm. So you can match the scissors to the depth of the field.
Two tip styles
Blunt/blunt tips spread tissue safely. By contrast, sharp/sharp tips start a cut in dense layers.
Tungsten carbide range
Tungsten carbide blades run from 14.5 to 28 cm. These inserts keep the fine edge for longer.
Fine or standard
The fine pattern has narrower blades than the standard Metzenbaum. Therefore it suits thin tissue near vessels. However, it can twist in heavy fascia. So many teams carry both patterns and pick by tissue. Also, the tungsten carbide pairs keep their fine edge for longer. So they suit the lengths you use most often. When you build a set, match the lengths to your usual cases. For example, general teams often choose 18 and 23 cm pairs. Then thoracic and pelvic teams add the longer sizes for deeper work.
Reprocessing Metzenbaum-Fine scissors
Clean the slim blades gently after each case. Next, rinse and dry fully. Then park them closed in a padded tray.
