Description
Ryder (Martin) Needle Holder, Tungsten Carbide
The Ryder needle holder, also known as the Martin pattern, has slim, fine jaws. Its carbide jaw inserts use a mini serration suited to finer sutures.
Mini serration
The mini serration sits between regular and micro. So it grips finer sutures while still handling mid-size needles. Also, the carbide keeps that serration crisp over time.
Eight lengths
Sizes run from 13 to 26 cm. As a result, one pattern serves skin, deep fascia and cavity work. Then gold handles make each size easy to spot.
Ryder or Martin
Some catalogues call this holder Martin, and others call it Ryder. Either way, the Ryder needle holder keeps the same slim ring-handled design. So you can order by either name.
Choosing a length
The shorter sizes work well in plastic and hand surgery. Meanwhile, the 20 to 26 cm Ryder needle holder reaches into the chest and pelvis. Pick two lengths to cover most trays.
Reprocessing Ryder needle holder
Soon after use, rinse the holder so blood cannot set in the inserts. Then clean the joint and ratchet with a brush. Also, check that the jaw tips still meet before sterilization.
