Description
Rochard Retractor Blade
This Rochard retractor blade fits the Rochard frame retractor system. You buy the blade alone and mount it on a Rochard frame you already own.
Lifting the costal margin
Surgeons use the Rochard system in upper abdominal surgery. The blade goes under the costal margin and lifts it. As a result, the upper abdomen opens up to view.
Five sizes
Sizes run 50 x 95, 50 x 105, 60 x 120, 60 x 135 and 60 x 155 mm. So you can match the blade to a slim or a larger patient. Also, longer blades reach further under the ribs.
Part of a system
The Rochard setup mounts on the table and uses a frame and ratchet to lift. Meanwhile, the blade does the lifting at the wound. Therefore, a sound blade matters as much as the frame.
Blade only
This order includes no frame or ratchet. Instead, you add it to an existing Rochard set. Plus, a spare Rochard retractor blade covers a second size.
Reprocessing Rochard retractor blade
Wipe the blade soon after surgery so fluid does not dry on its face. Then clean it by hand or machine and inspect the fitting end. Finally, store it flat with the other parts of the system.
