Description
Retractor With Scale Prong
This retractor with scale holds tissue and gives a quick depth reading at once. The marks run along the shaft of a 16 cm prong instrument.
Reading the scale
Surgeons read the marks to judge depth or distance at the wound. So you can check a measurement without swapping to a ruler. Also, that saves a step during plastic and hand cases.
Prong count
Choose one, two, three or four prongs. Then match the width of the rake to the tissue edge. For example, one prong suits a narrow flap.
Sharp or blunt
Sharp prongs hold skin with a light pull. However, blunt prongs sit safely near fine structures. Therefore choose by the tissue you plan to retract.
Why the marks help
Plastic and reconstructive work often calls for a quick check of flap or wound size. Because the marks sit on the shaft, the reading comes during retraction. As a result, the team keeps working without pause.
Looking after retractor with scale
Clean the scale area with a soft brush so residue does not hide the marks. Next, rinse and dry the prongs one by one. Finally, check that each marking still reads clearly before storing.
