Description
Resection Forceps
Resection forceps for roots pick up where the bur leaves off. Once you have split a tooth or cut away a crown, single roots remain in the socket. These four figures help you grasp each one cleanly. All four are made to our specification and, before they reach you, inspected in the United States.
A Sectioning Workflow
Many surgeons now section a multi-rooted tooth instead of pulling it whole. First, they cut the crown and separate the roots. After that, you lift the roots out one by one. As a result, less force goes into the bone. However, a single root gives a small target, so the beaks must be narrow enough to reach it.
Choosing Among the Four Figures
- Fig. 146 – upper and lower roots, deep-gripping
- Fig. 151 – upper roots
- Fig. 333S – very thin lower roots
- Fig. 351S – very thin upper roots
Fig. 146 works in both arches and reaches further down the root, so it suits a root that sits low. For upper roots of normal width, Fig. 151 is the plain choice. When a root is very slim, switch to the S figures: 333S for the lower arch and 351S for the upper. Each figure is a single item, so you can add one at a time.
Gripping a Lone Root
Slide the beaks along the root surface and seat them as far apically as access allows. Then luxate with short buccal and lingual moves. Rotation often helps with a single conical root. Finally, lift the root out once it moves freely. If it does not move, widen the space with an elevator first rather than squeezing harder.
Hinge and Tip Care
Resection forceps for roots have slim tips that need gentle handling. So rinse them soon after use, and keep them apart from heavy instruments in the tray. Also, oil the joint once it is clean, which keeps the action silky.
Delivery, Warranty and More
You receive the forceps non-sterile; sterilise them before first use and reuse them after each full cycle. On the materials side, the stainless steel answers to ASTM F899. We promise every figure three years against manufacturing defects and will deal with any such fault. For the lower arch alone, see the Busch lower root resection forceps.
