Description
Rampley Polypus And Dressing Forceps
The Rampley sponge forceps hold a swab firmly in serrated oval jaws. Theatre teams use them to paint skin with antiseptic and to swab wounds during surgery.
Skin preparation
Before the first incision, the skin needs a thorough antiseptic wash. Holding the swab on a Rampley keeps gloved hands away from the patient, so the scrubbed team stays sterile.
Two lengths of the Rampley sponge forceps
The 18 cm pair suits skin preparation and shallow wounds. In contrast, the 25 cm pair reaches deep into the abdomen or pelvis.
Serrated jaws
Fine serrations grip the swab without tearing it. Therefore, the swab stays in place even when wet and heavy with fluid.
A classic British pattern
The Rampley appears on general trays across many hospitals. As a result, scrub teams recognise it instantly and know how to load it.
Loading tip
Fold the swab into a neat pad and grip it near the tip of the jaws. This leaves a firm, rounded surface that won’t fray during use.

Rampley care

How we back each forceps
Before dispatch, a colleague in Atlanta assesses the Rampley forceps piece by piece. Rampley forceps leave our bench with three years against manufacturing defects.
