Description
Pelkmann Gall Stone Forceps
The Pelkmann gall stone forceps reach stones lodged low in the bile duct. At 26.5 cm, they are one of the longest patterns in our range.
Length of the Pelkmann gall stone forceps
The extra length reaches stones near the ampulla. As a result, the surgeon can avoid a second opening in the duct. The handles also stay well clear of the field.
Jaw design
The jaws close around a stone with even pressure. Meanwhile, smooth outer edges protect the duct wall. That helps the duct heal cleanly.
Typical procedures
Surgeons use them for deep stones during common bile duct exploration. In particular, they free a stone wedged at the lower end. They also help when the duct is long or dilated.
Technique
Guide the closed tips down the duct. Then open them slightly at the stone and close firmly. Finally, draw back with slow, even traction.
Comparing long forceps
Tubinger forceps measure 26 cm, while the Pelkmann adds half a centimetre. However, jaw shape and curve matter as much as length. Many surgeons keep both.

Why we check the forceps
At 26.5 cm, the Pelkmann carries three years against manufacturing defects. Long reach, long cover. Each forceps passes a close check by Atlanta staff prior to packing. We also check sizes by email. To round out the tray, add the Tubinger forceps. The FAQ page handles shipping and refunds. Most units hold a second forceps to avoid delays. For details on instrument alloys, read ASTM F899. Visit our broad general surgical instruments to finish the tray.
Only for qualified users. See the shipping page for lead times. Pictures on this page can vary a little, while the steel holds nickel; consult our reprocessing guide for more.
