Description
Peers-Bertram Towel Forceps
The Peers-Bertram towel forceps lock drape layers together at the edge of the sterile field. At 14.5 cm, they sit between small clips and heavy towel forceps, which suits most general drapes.
A mid-size pattern
The 14.5 cm length gives enough grip for cloth drapes without adding bulk. As a result, one pattern covers many routine procedures.
How the Peers-Bertram towel forceps hold
The points curve toward each other and meet when closed. Therefore, the drape layers sit trapped between them and cannot slip apart.
Corners first
Teams usually place the first four forceps at the corners of the drape window. After that, extra forceps secure tubing and leads along the sides.
Closing technique
Gather the layers into a small fold, then close the forceps across it. Before moving on, tug the drape lightly to confirm it holds.
Protecting the skin
Only drape should sit between the points unless the surgeon wants skin fixation. Otherwise, the points can leave small marks.
Tray count
A standard general tray holds four to six towel forceps. That count covers draping for most abdominal and limb procedures.
