Description
Nance Adams Clasp Forming Pliers
Adams clasps hold many removable appliances in place, and they need clean, firm bends. These Nance Adams clasp pliers help you form them. Clasp wire up to .028” (0.70 mm) is within its range.
Made for Clasp Wire
Clasp work asks for tight bends in a short length of wire. Therefore, a plier made for clasps gives better control than a general loop plier. You can shape the clasp arms, then tune the fit on the model. This pattern comes as one item, so there is nothing to choose.
Retainer Day in the Lab
Most of this work happens on the bench. Picture a technician forming both clasps for an upper retainer in one sitting. Then the clinician can make a small tweak at the delivery visit. In both cases, keep to wire within the rating.
- Adams clasps for removable appliances
- Retainer wire bends
- Clasp wire as heavy as .028”
- Suits bench and chair
Why the Rating Counts
Clasp wire is often stiff. If you push past .028”, the tips can open or chip. As a result, the next clasp comes out uneven. A heavier plier is the right answer for thicker wire.
Tip Alignment Check
Before a run of clasps, close the plier and sight along the tips. They should meet straight on. If one tip rides high, set the plier aside. Also clean the joint well, because dry debris makes the action stiff.
Delivery State
This plier ships non-sterile. Clean it and sterilise it first, and it is then fit for repeat use. We build it to our own spec.
