Description
Nail File
The steel nail file smooths nail edges after cutting. Four lengths and two handle styles let staff pick what feels best.
Four lengths
We offer 10, 11, 13 and 15 cm. Shorter files suit small nails. Meanwhile, longer ones give more stroke for thick nails.
Plain or plastic handle
The plain file is all steel. By contrast, the plastic handle gives a softer grip. Therefore, it suits long sessions.
Why a steel nail file
Steel files last much longer than emery boards. In addition, they survive cleaning between patients. As a result, they suit clinical use.
Typical uses
Podiatrists and nurses use it after nail cutting. For example, it removes sharp corners. It also suits nursing homes.
Technique
File in one direction rather than back and forth. Then check the edge with a fingertip. Also, keep the file flat against the nail.
Pairing
Nail nippers and cutters come first. Then the file finishes the edge. Many kits carry both.
Steel nail file options
- 10, 11, 13 or 15 cm
- All steel or plastic handle
- Fine filing surface
Clearing the surface
Brush dust from the file surface after each use. Wash and dry it. Then disinfect or sterilise as the handle allows.
Aftercare in brief
Any file goes through a visual review at our Atlanta office before dispatch. The steel file carries three years against manufacturing defects. The plastic handle version shares it. For help with an order, consult the FAQs. Explore the entire general surgical instruments too. For background on instrument steels, look up ASTM F899. We can suggest an option for repeat orders. For another approach, add the nail nippers.
