Description
Nail Nipper
The nail nipper trims toenails and fingernails with sharp, close-meeting jaws. Three lengths cover small and large hands and nails.
Three lengths
We offer 11, 13 and 15 cm. In addition, the 11 cm suits fingernails. Meanwhile, the longer sizes suit toenails.
Why a spring nail nipper
The spring reopens the jaws after each bite. Consequently, the hand tires less. That helps in long clinics.
Typical uses
Podiatry, nursing and care homes use it daily. For example, it trims ingrown corners. It also helps in diabetic foot care.
Technique
Take small cuts along the nail. Then follow the natural curve. Also, keep the skin away from the jaws.
Choosing a size
Larger nippers give more leverage. By contrast, smaller ones offer finer control. Many clinics keep two sizes.
Finishing
File the edge after trimming. That removes sharp points. In addition, it protects socks and skin.
Nail nipper care between clinics
Sharp jaws make the cleanest cut, so check the edges under good light every week. If the jaws no longer meet along their full length, send the nipper for sharpening rather than forcing it through thick nails.
Nail nipper options

Keeping the edge
Clean the jaws after every patient. Dry and oil the hinge. Afterwards, sterilise the nipper.
