The Nager retractor gives long, curved retraction in throat surgery. Teams use it to keep soft tissue away from the field deep in the mouth and throat.

Holding tissue at depth

Throat procedures often need an assistant to hold tissue steady. Because the field lies deep, a long retractor keeps the assistant’s hand clear. The curve then follows the anatomy of the oral cavity.

23 cm with a curve

We stock the Nager pattern at 23 cm, curved. That length puts it alongside our Hofer retractor. For blade width or depth, contact us, since we do not list those details.

Where the Nager fits

ENT surgeons may use it in tonsil, palate and pharyngeal work. For instance, an assistant can draw a faucial pillar back with it. Also, it can help when the field needs a second retractor.

Comparing long retractors

The Nager and Hofer patterns share the same length and curve. So surgeons often choose based on blade shape and feel. So ask for photos of both and compare them side by side.

Caring for the Nager

Remove blood and saliva from the blade right after use. Next, scrub the curve and handle with a brush until no residue remains. Then dry the Nager retractor and sterilize it.
