Modified Michel Clip Forceps
The modified Michel clip forceps refine the classic Michel design for wound clips. Small changes give a firmer, more even squeeze, so each clip closes the same way.
What the modification changes
The jaws seat the clip more securely before it closes. As a result, clips are less likely to twist or spring off. That saves time on long incisions.
Size of the modified Michel clip forceps
The instrument is 12 cm long, which matches the original pattern. Therefore, staff who know the Michel will feel at home straight away.
Typical closures
Thyroid, breast and abdominal wall incisions often close with clips. For instance, a thyroid scar heals neatly when the edges are everted and clipped evenly.
Removing clips later
On the ward, the same forceps open each clip so it lifts free. Meanwhile, the skin edges stay together because the wound has already healed.
Practical tips
Load the clip so it sits square in the jaws. Next, place it across the wound line and squeeze in one smooth motion. Finally, check that both prongs have entered the skin evenly.
Original or modified
Some teams prefer the classic feel of the original Michel. Others choose the modified version for its steadier grip. Either works well with standard Michel clips.

Support and help
Every forceps receives a visual review by Atlanta staff before shipment. This modified pattern carries three years against manufacturing defects, the same as the original Michel. Larger surgical teams keep an extra forceps so a case never waits. Want a bulk price? Message us by email. For another approach, add the original Michel pattern.
