Description
Metzenbaum-Delicat
The Delicat version slims down the classic Metzenbaum. Its lighter blades suit flap release, undermining and fine dissection in the mouth and face. Our metzenbaum delicate scissors come in eight combinations, and the catalogue lists the pattern at 14.5 cm. Each option name combines three choices: blade shape, tip style and edge type.
Straight or Curved Blades
Straight blades cut along a clear line of sight. They are a sensible choice for cutting sutures or trimming tissue on a flat surface. Curved blades follow tissue planes and let you dissect around a contour while keeping the tips visible. As a result, many surgeons use the curved version for undermining a mucosal flap.
Blunt Tips Versus Sharp Tips
The catalogue describes the blunt style as a round edge. Because rounded tips push tissue apart instead of puncturing it, surgeons favor them close to vessels or nerves. Sharp tips, on the other hand, start a cut precisely in dense tissue. Choose Straight / Sharp or Curved / Sharp when you need to snip a tight fibrous band.
Standard Steel or Tungsten Carbide
The Standard options use conventional stainless steel blades. The Tungsten Carbide options add carbide cutting edges, which hold their sharpness longer between servicing. That makes them worth considering for busy surgical practices. Otherwise, the four Standard versions cover routine needs well. Every combination is listed by name in the selector: for example, Curved / Blunt / Tungsten Carbide or Straight / Sharp / Standard.
From Our Bench to Yours
Our inspectors in the United States test each pair for smooth closure before dispatch. The scissors are packed non-sterile, so please process them through cleaning and sterilization first. Every version, carbide or not, carries our coverage of three years against manufacturing defects.
The steel body meets ASTM F899 for surgical stainless steel. Explore the wider range of maxillofacial surgery instruments, add a Halsey needle holder for closing the flap, or browse our FAQs.
