Description
Mayo Scissors
Mayo scissors are heavy dissecting scissors for fascia, muscle and sutures. They come in five lengths.
Five lengths
The 14.5 to 17 cm sizes suit general work. Meanwhile, the 23 and 28 cm sizes reach deep abdominal fields.
Straight or curved
Straight blades suit sutures and fascia. By contrast, curved blades follow tissue planes.
Tungsten carbide option
We offer carbide inserts at 14.5, 17 and 23 cm. So the edge lasts longer between sharpenings.
Straight for sutures
Many teams keep a straight Mayo for sutures only. That way the curved pair stays sharp for tissue. Also, a 17 cm pair covers most general cases. Then add a 23 cm pair for deeper work. In addition, carbide and standard pairs share the same sizes. So the team can keep matching pairs for tissue and sutures.
Reprocessing Mayo scissors
Rinse the blades soon after use. Next, brush the joint and dry fully. Then store the scissors closed with the tips protected.
