Description
Mayo-Adams Retractor
The Mayo-Adams retractor is a self-retaining retractor about 17 to 18 cm long. We offer it in two versions of similar size.
Two versions
The two versions share the same basic length. However, they differ in detail, so choosing can take a moment. If you need help choosing, contact us before you order.
Self-retaining hold
Once you set the spread, it stays open on its own. So the surgeon and assistant keep their hands free for the actual procedure. Also, the wound edges stay at an even distance.
Where it fits
Mayo-Adams patterns appear in many general surgery trays across US hospitals. Then they hold medium wounds open without the bulk of a frame retractor. Plus, the size fits well in a standard instrument tray.
Help choosing
Tell us the procedure, the incision size and the tool you now use. Then we can match the Mayo-Adams retractor version to your needs. That way, you avoid a return and a delay in getting the right tool.
Reprocessing Mayo-Adams retractor
Open the arms as wide as they go and flush the joint with clean water. Next, scrub the working ends with a soft brush, paying attention to any crevices. Finally, dry the instrument and store it away from heavier tools.
