Description
Darling Retractor
The Darling retractor is an 18 cm self-retaining instrument for holding wound edges apart. It keeps a wound open while the surgeon works on the deeper layers.
Hands-free retraction
After you open it, the instrument holds that spread by itself until you close it. As a result, the assistant stays free for other steps. Also, steady retraction gives a consistent view from the first cut to closure.
An 18 cm length
This pattern comes in one 18 cm size. Therefore, it offers more reach than our 10 cm and 13 cm self-retainers. So it suits deeper wounds than the small Alm or Logan patterns.
Replacing a worn one
Self-retaining tools take heavy daily use. In that case, a matching replacement keeps your tray complete. Plus, we can check a photo if you want to confirm the pattern.
Similar patterns
We also stock the Walton at the same 18 cm length. However, surgeons often request the Darling retractor by name, so we list it as its own pattern. So pick the one your team already knows and trusts from past cases.
Cleaning Darling retractor
Rinse the tool under running water right after use, before blood has a chance to dry. Then brush between the working ends and around any joint. Finally, dry it completely and keep it in a closed tray.
