Mathieu Vaginal Speculum and Retractor

The Mathieu vaginal speculum forms one half of a two-piece system, alongside a matching retractor. We sell each piece separately in Fig 1 or Fig 2.

The speculum blade

Both speculum figures have a 95 mm blade. However, Fig 1 spans a width of 16-26 mm, while Fig 2 spans 16-30 mm. So Fig 2 offers the broader profile.

The retractor blade

The retractor figures each measure 100 mm long. Meanwhile, Fig 1 spans 11-20 mm in width and Fig 2 spans 14-26 mm. Therefore, pick the retractor that pairs with your chosen speculum width.

Working as a pair

Together, the two pieces open the vaginal canal from opposite sides. As a result, the team adjusts each side on its own. Also, you can replace one piece without the other.

Ordering both pieces

Most users order the Mathieu vaginal speculum and retractor together in matching figures. Alternatively, buy one piece to replace a worn or lost blade. Plus, keep the figure numbers consistent across a tray.

Cleaning Mathieu vaginal speculum

Clean the speculum and retractor as two separate items. Next, scrub each blade surface and rinse with clean water. Then dry both pieces and store them as a labeled pair.
