Maingot vaginal forceps offer a longer Maingot pattern clamp for hysterectomy and vaginal surgery. They measure about 23 cm, which adds reach over the standard 20 cm model.

Clamping in hysterectomy

During a hysterectomy, surgeons clamp each pedicle before they divide and tie it. So a clamp of this pattern holds tissue while the surgeon works. Then the tie goes on behind the jaws.

Extra length for vaginal work

The vaginal route leaves a deep, narrow working space. Because of that, the extra length keeps the hand clear of the field. Also, the assistant gets a better view past the handles.

Before the case

Check that the jaws close evenly from heel to tip. In addition, confirm the clamp opens and closes smoothly. Then place it with the other long clamps on the vaginal tray.
