Description
Maingot Hysterectomy Forceps
Maingot hysterectomy forceps give the surgeon a 20 cm clamp for securing tissue during removal of the uterus. Surgeons place them on pedicles before cutting and tying.
A pedicle clamp
Hysterectomy involves a series of pedicles, from the round ligament down to the uterine vessels. So the surgeon needs a clamp that holds each one firmly. Then a suture ligature goes on before the clamp comes off.
A 20 cm working length
At 20 cm, the clamp gives useful reach into the pelvis. Also, that length balances reach against control. Meanwhile, it stays easy to handle when several clamps sit in the field.
Longer option
Some surgeons want more length for vaginal work. In that case, see our separate Maingot clamp at about 23 cm. Otherwise, the Maingot hysterectomy forceps cover most routine needs.
Setting up the tray
Hysterectomy sets usually carry several pedicle clamps. So order enough Maingot hysterectomy forceps to cover each side. Plus, a spare pair helps if one drops during the case.
Reprocessing Maingot hysterectomy forceps
Open the jaws before washing so debris cannot hide between them. Then scrub the gripping faces with a nylon brush and rinse. Also, dry the clamp fully and store it in a tray with the jaws protected.
