Lopez-Reinke Dissector

The Lopez-Reinke dissector gives long, curved blunt dissection in throat surgery. Surgeons use it to separate tissue layers, for example around the tonsil capsule.

Blunt dissection explained

Blunt dissection pushes tissue apart along natural planes instead of cutting through it. Therefore, it can help the surgeon follow the capsule with less trauma. The curved tip slides between the layers as the surgeon works.

A 23 cm curved pattern

We list the Lopez-Reinke pattern at 23 cm with a curve. Its 23 cm reach gets to the tonsil fossa comfortably from outside the mouth. For tip dimensions, just send us a message.

How it fits a tonsil procedure

First, the surgeon incises the mucosa with a knife. Next, the Lopez-Reinke dissector opens the plane around the tonsil. Meanwhile, seizing forceps keep the tonsil under traction.

Choosing a dissector

Caring for your Lopez-Reinke dissector

Rinse tissue from the tip as soon as the operation finishes. Then brush the whole length under running water. Dry it completely before it heads to the autoclave.
