Description
Ligature Needle Flexible
The flexible ligature needle has a shaft that bends by hand. As a result, the surgeon can shape the curve to match the space around a vessel instead of relying on a fixed bend.
Shaping the curve
Bend the shaft gently before use. In general, a wide curve suits large pedicles, while a tight curve suits small vessels in narrow spaces.
Length of the flexible ligature needle
The needle measures 20 cm. That reaches into the abdomen and pelvis. Meanwhile, the eye sits close to the tip for easy threading.
When a fixed curve will not do
Anatomy varies from patient to patient. Therefore, a shapeable needle helps when no standard curve fits the path behind a vessel.
Typical procedures
General, gynaecological and vascular surgeons use it. For instance, it passes a ligature around a vessel hidden behind other structures.
Limits of bending
Repeated sharp bends at one spot can weaken the metal. For that reason, reshape gradually and avoid folding the shaft back and forth.

Reshaping after use
Ease the shaft back toward straight before cleaning. Wash, dry and sterilise it laid flat.
Our promise for the needle
Our flexible needle carries three years against manufacturing defects, even though you will bend it. An inspector in Atlanta studies the needle one at a time before shipment. Similar instruments appear in the general surgery line. A second needle in stores keeps lists moving. Steel in surgical instruments has its own standard, namely ASTM F899.
