Description
LiftTrace™ Ogeechee Dissector
The LiftTrace Ogeechee dissector is a fine, single-ended instrument for separating soft tissue with control. Its small tip measures just 2.2 by 0.7 mm. Consequently, it can start a plane in thin or scarred tissue where a broad periosteal would tear.
Where a fine tip helps
Delicate flap work rarely rewards force. Around implants, papillae and thin biotypes, you need to lift tissue a little at a time. Ogeechee lets you work in small increments, tunnel gently beneath the margin and free fibres without crushing them. Clinicians also use it to release tissue around sutures or to tease apart adhesions.
Dimensions and steel
The dissector is 145 mm long, which gives comfortable reach without losing feel at the tip. It is made from AISI 420 stainless steel, a hardenable grade that holds a fine edge and resists corrosion in routine reprocessing.
Working with the LiftTrace Ogeechee dissector
Use a modified pen grasp, resting a finger on a nearby tooth or bone. First, place the tip against bone or the deeper layer. Then advance with small sweeping movements, keeping the tip in contact. Above all, let the instrument find the plane rather than pushing through tissue.
Care
Clean the tip promptly, before tissue can dry onto it. Brush gently, rinse and dry. Look the tip over under magnification before it goes back on the tray, then sterilize the dissector fully dry.
