Description
Landolt Scoop Malleable
The Landolt malleable scoop lifts soft tumor tissue out of the sella during transsphenoidal surgery. Its shaft bends, so the surgeon can shape the scoop to reach around corners.
Scoop versus curette
A curette scrapes tissue loose, while a scoop carries it out. So the two often work in turn. For example, a curette may free a piece of adenoma, and then the scoop lifts it toward the opening.
Single 25 cm version
We sell the Landolt malleable scoop at 25 cm. That length matches our other Landolt pieces and gives good reach through the nasal corridor. For bowl size, please contact us before placing an order.
Shaping the shaft
Surgeons usually set the bend before the case, based on imaging. Then they may adjust it once they see the anatomy. Because of that flexibility, one scoop can serve several angles of approach.
Pairing it well
The scoop works best with a malleable curette and hook from the same line. In addition, a rigid instrument helps where the surgeon needs firm pressure. We can help you build a balanced set.
Caring for your Landolt malleable scoop
Empty and rinse the bowl immediately after use, since soft tissue dries inside it quickly. Then brush the bowl and the shaft. Finally, dry the scoop, avoid repeated bending at one spot, and sterilize it.
