Description
Classon Neurosurgical Scissors
Classon scissors are slim neurosurgical scissors for fine tissue cutting. Neurosurgeons pick them up to open dura, divide arachnoid bands and trim soft tissue in cranial or spinal cases.
Fine cuts near the brain and cord
Neural tissue tolerates very little pulling or crushing. Therefore, the blades need to glide under a membrane and cut cleanly. This pattern gives the surgeon that kind of controlled snip.
Available size
We list the scissors in one 18 cm size. That length works well in open cranial fields and moderate spinal exposures. If you need the blade shape or tip details, write to us and we will check a pair.
During a typical case
For instance, once a hook tents the dura, the surgeon nicks it with a blade. Then the scissors lengthen the opening in small steps. Later, they can also trim suture ends at closure. You will find them in our scissors range too.
Comparing scissor patterns
Several neurosurgical scissor patterns look alike at first glance. So, compare blade length, tip shape and overall size with the pair you already use. We are happy to send photos from the bench to help you decide.
Caring for your Classon scissors
Wipe the blades and rinse the box joint promptly after surgery. Next, open the scissors and brush the pivot area. Meanwhile, avoid tossing them into a basin with heavy instruments, because the tips bend easily. Dry, then sterilize.

Getting from Intrace USA
These scissors ride on a three-year warranty covering any shortfall in workmanship. Before a pair leaves our Atlanta room, we cut test material with it by hand. Most routine questions have replies in the FAQ collection. Our steel reference is ASTM F899, the standard for instrument alloys. If you prefer a curved option, compare Church scissors. Otherwise, wander through our neurosurgical tools.
