Description
Landolt Curette Malleable
The Landolt malleable curette is a long, bendable curette for transsphenoidal pituitary surgery. Surgeons shape it by hand and use it to scrape and remove tumor tissue from the sella.
Why malleable
The sella has corners and recesses that a straight tool cannot always reach. So a malleable shaft lets the surgeon bend the curette to fit the anatomy of each patient. Then the cup reaches around curves toward hidden tissue.
25 cm length
We sell the Landolt malleable curette in one 25 cm length. That matches the reach of our other transsphenoidal tools. Also, it keeps the hand well outside the nose. For cup size, please contact us before you order.
In pituitary surgery
After the surgeon opens the sellar floor, curettes remove the soft adenoma piece by piece. For example, a bent curette can sweep the lateral recesses, while a straight one works the center. Suction then clears the loosened tissue.
Rounding out the Landolt set
The Landolt line includes malleable scoops, hooks and enucleators. Therefore many teams order several pieces together so they feel alike in the hand. We can help you plan that set.
Caring for your Landolt malleable curette
Straighten the shaft gently before cleaning, if your protocol allows. Then brush the cup, where tissue collects, and rinse well. Finally, dry it and sterilize it. Also, avoid bending it back and forth many times at the same point.

When you order
Protection against workmanship defects comes as a three-year warranty on this curette. Before we ship, the curette gets a hand inspection in Atlanta from a member of our small team. The FAQ overview gives more on orders. We point to ASTM F899 when buyers ask which standard covers surgical stainless steel. A matching tool is the Landolt malleable scoop.
