Description
Landolt-Reulen Hook Rigid
The Landolt-Reulen hook is a rigid, blunt hook for pituitary operations through the sphenoid. So surgeons use it to explore the sella and draw tissue toward the opening.
Blunt tip, rigid shaft
A blunt hook moves tissue without cutting it. Meanwhile, the rigid shaft holds its shape, so the surgeon gets clear feedback from the tip. That combination suits careful exploration.
Size
We sell the hook at 25 cm with a blunt 1.7 mm tip. It shares that length with the rest of the Landolt-Reulen line. For hook angle, please contact us before you order, since catalogs differ.
Typical use
During adenoma removal, pieces of tumor can hide behind ledges of tissue. For instance, the surgeon may slip the hook behind a ledge and pull the piece forward. Then a curette or suction removes it.
Rigid or malleable hook
The rigid version gives firm, predictable control. In contrast, a malleable hook bends to reach unusual angles. Many teams keep one of each. Ask us if you want both on one order.
Caring for your Landolt-Reulen hook
First, remove any tissue wrapped around the hook. Then rinse and brush the shaft, and dry it thoroughly. Finally, check that the tip is undamaged and sterilize it.
