Landolt Hook Malleable

The Landolt malleable hook is a blunt, bendable hook for pituitary work through the nose. Surgeons rely on it to explore the sella, test tissue and draw material toward the opening.

A blunt hook

A blunt hook catches tissue without piercing it. Therefore the surgeon can feel along the walls of the sella and pull soft tumor toward the center. Meanwhile, the rounded end reduces the risk of tearing.

Malleable, 25 cm

We offer the Landolt malleable hook in a single 25 cm length with a blunt tip. The shaft bends, so the surgeon can angle the hook to reach off-center areas. Also, it matches our other Landolt malleable tools in length.

During pituitary work

Hooks help find the edges of a tumor and loosen pieces that other tools miss. For example, a surgeon may bend the hook, sweep a recess, and bring tissue into reach of a curette. Then suction removes it.

Caring for your Landolt malleable hook

Clean the hook tip first, because tissue wraps around it. Next, rinse the whole shaft and dry it. Also, avoid bending the shaft repeatedly at the same point. Finally, sterilize it with the rest of the pituitary set.
