Description
Kocher-Nippon Artery Forceps
Kocher-Nippon forceps are a toothed artery forceps listed separately from the Kocher (Ochsner) in the manufacturer’s catalogue. They come in three lengths.
Sizes
The 14.5 cm size suits superficial work. Meanwhile, the 16 and 18 cm sizes reach a little deeper.
1:2 teeth
Interlocking teeth at the tip hold dense tissue. Therefore the pattern suits fascia and firm pedicles.
Straight or curved
Pick straight jaws for a direct approach. Alternatively, curved jaws help when you clamp beneath tissue.
Choosing between Kocher patterns
If your team already uses the Kocher (Ochsner), check its jaw against this one before ordering. Because the patterns differ slightly, teams often standardise on one. Also, we can confirm dimensions before we ship if you need to match existing stock. In addition, the toothed tip suits fascia and other tissue that slips from smooth jaws. However, avoid it on vessels you plan to preserve, because the teeth can bruise the wall.
Reprocessing Kocher-Nippon forceps
Rinse the teeth promptly after use. Then brush the joint and towel-dry the clamp before you rack it with the ratchet released.
