Description
Knowles Bandage & Clothing Scissors
The Knowles bandage scissors cut bandages and clothing close to the skin. A blunt lower blade protects the patient, and you can choose a straight or angled shape.
Straight or angled
The straight version suits flat cuts along a limb. Meanwhile, the angled version keeps the hand above the body when the bandage sits tight.
Size of the Knowles bandage scissors
At 15 cm, they fit a uniform pocket yet still cut thick material. As a result, many nurses carry a pair on every shift.
Clothing and bandages
In emergencies, staff must remove clothing quickly without moving the patient much. Therefore, a sturdy blade that cuts denim and leather as well as bandage is valuable.
Using them safely
Slide the blunt blade under the material with the tip pointing away from wounds. Then cut in long, steady strokes, lifting the material slightly.
Who uses them
Emergency, trauma and ward nurses rely on them. Paramedics and first aid teams also carry them.
Easy care
Bandage scissors pick up adhesive quickly. Consequently, regular cleaning keeps the cut smooth.
