Description
Knapp-Clark Eye Speculum
A knapp-clark eye speculum keeps both lids retracted so you can work on the globe without help from an assistant. We stock it in one 8cm size. It suits routine adult cases at the front of the eye.
The role of the Knapp-Clark in your set
Every eye tray needs a reliable speculum. This one spreads the lids and holds them while you operate. As a result, you can keep both hands on your main tools. It works for cataract, corneal and lid cases, where a steady view matters most.
Is 8cm the right Knapp-Clark size?
For most adults, yes. The 8cm frame opens to a useful span without bulk. However, a small or pediatric eye may need a shorter frame. So, check the patient’s fissure before the case, and have a backup ready if the fit looks tight.
Small steps that help the Knapp-Clark last
- Do not drop the speculum, since bent blades lose their fit.
- Clean it within the hour after surgery.
- Dry the joint area well before the steriliser.
- Store it apart from sharp tools.
Cleaning routine for Knapp-Clark blades
Start with a cool rinse to stop blood from setting. Then wash with a soft brush and a neutral cleaner, working into the spring area where tissue likes to hide. Rinse well and dry with a lint-free cloth. This speculum ships non-sterile, so it must go through sterilization before first use. Afterwards, it is reusable case after case.
Our promise on the Knapp-Clark
Each Knapp-Clark frame holds three years against manufacturing defects, Knapp-Clark blades and spring included. The steel follows ASTM F899, the standard for surgical stainless.
