Description
Bonn Eye Scissors
Bonn eye scissors are a small, fine pattern at just 9 cm. You can order curved or straight blades. Their short body suits delicate work close to the eye.
A Very Short Pattern
At 9 cm, these are among the smallest scissors in our range. So they sit deep in the hand and react to tiny finger moves. That is useful for fine anterior segment cuts. It also suits surgeons with smaller hands, who find longer patterns awkward.
Bonn Curved or Straight Choice
Curved blades let you see the tips while you cut around a curve. Straight blades, however, give a direct line and feel predictable. If you are unsure, start with curved.
Where Small Scissors Shine
Small fine scissors are typically used for delicate tissue rather than heavy work.
- Iris and membrane cuts
- Fine conjunctival snips
- Trimming tissue tags
- Close work under the microscope
Limits to Keep in Mind
A short pair has less reach. Therefore, it may not suit deep fields or a high brow. In those cases, a longer pattern can be more comfortable. Also, the short handle gives less leverage, so do not force the blades through firm tissue.
Care for Small Blades
Small tips bend easily. So handle the pair with care in the tray and during cleaning. After use, rinse, brush, dry and check the tips under a loupe. Then store the pair in a slot that keeps the points from touching metal.
Bonn pairs travel non-sterile; your cleaning and sterilization cycle makes them ready again. Material is stainless steel per ASTM F899, and each tiny pair passes our checks in the United States. Curved or straight, every Bonn pair keeps three years against manufacturing defects on file. For longer spring scissors, see the Noyes iris scissors.
