Juers Wire Closure Forceps
Juers wire closure forceps are a bayonet crimper for stapes surgery. Otologists use them to close the wire loop of a stapes prosthesis around the long process of the incus.
Why a bayonet shaft
A bayonet bend moves the surgeon’s hand away from the line of sight. As a result, the view through the microscope stays open while the tip works deep in the ear canal. The shaft runs about 8 cm in the maker’s catalog.
Left and right versions
We sell this crimper as a Left or a Right model. The two mirror each other, so each one approaches the incus from its own side. Surgeons who operate on both ears often keep the pair together.
The crimping step
After the prosthesis sits in place, the wire hook needs to tighten around the incus. Then the surgeon squeezes the forceps gently to close the loop. A snug crimp matters, because a loose wire can shift after surgery.

Caring for your Juers forceps
