Description

Joseph Septum Periosteal Elevator

The Joseph periosteal elevator lifts periosteum and mucosal lining away from nasal bone. Rhinoplasty and septal surgeons rely on it to open a clean plane before they cut or rasp.

Elevating before shaping

Nasal bone and cartilage sit under a thin, tight covering. Surgeons first peel that covering back, so the framework lies exposed. As a result, rasps and osteotomes can work without tearing the soft layer above.

Two blade widths

We offer a 4 mm and a 6.5 mm blade. The narrow 4 mm blade slips into tight spots and starts a plane. Meanwhile, the 6.5 mm blade sweeps a wider area once the plane is open.

A Joseph tradition

Jacques Joseph laid out the dorsal steps that many surgeons still follow. His instruments, such as rasps, hooks and knives, often travel together. This elevator completes that group by preparing the bone surface.

Which width to order

Buying just one? Then consider where you usually start the dissection. Surgeons who begin in narrow spaces often favour 4 mm. However, keeping both widths lets you move from one to the other without delay.

Caring for your Joseph periosteal elevator

Wipe tissue off the blade straight after use. Then wash it by hand, rinse it, and dry it with a lint-free cloth. Finally, sterilize it with your nasal set.

  • For septal and nasal bone surfaces

Your elevator order, step by step

Both widths, 4 mm and 6.5 mm, come with our three-year warranty for workmanship defects. Next, before we pack your elevator, an Atlanta team member checks it by hand. You can read about payment and delivery on our FAQ page right here. The document most elevator buyers ask about is ASTM F899, which defines instrument steels. For reducing bone after elevation, see the Joseph nasal bone rasp. Also browse our ENT shop.

Sold for clinical and professional use. Why might an elevator photo differ from the steel you receive, and where does nickel come in? Our sterilization and care article answers both, and our shipping page lists delivery windows.
