Description
Jaffe-Knolle Iris Hook, Curved
The jaffe-knolle iris hook is a curved 13cm hook with a blunt tip. The curve helps you reach around the pupil edge. Meanwhile, the blunt tip keeps your moves gentle. So it suits careful iris work in cataract and other front-of-eye cases.
Why a curved shaft helps
A straight hook reaches in a line. A curved hook can reach around a corner. As a result, you can get to the far pupil edge or move the iris without twisting your wrist. That makes small moves smoother under the microscope. It also helps when the pupil is small and room is tight.
A blunt tip for safety
This hook has only a blunt edge. That means it pushes and guides rather than piercing. Therefore it lowers the risk of a tear in the iris or capsule. If you need a sharp catch instead, choose a sharp-edge hook from our range. For most pupil work, though, blunt is what surgeons want.

Cleaning the curved hook
A curve can trap viscoelastic and pigment on its inner side. So flush the Jaffe-Knolle with water through the case if you can, and brush along the bend once you finish. Dry it well. As shipped, the Jaffe-Knolle is non-sterile; process it in your autoclave before the first cataract list. It then goes back on the tray again and again.
Jaffe-Knolle warranty and more
The Jaffe-Knolle carries three years against manufacturing defects on its curve and tip. Its steel meets ASTM F899. See our cataract and iris hook range, or the straight Knolle iris hook for a straight option. If you have a question on stock, our order FAQs may help.
