Description
Implant Periosteal Elevator, Wide Spoon
Reflecting a flap over an edentulous ridge is one of the first steps in many implant cases. This implant periosteal elevator has a wide spoon shaped working end, so it lifts a broad section of periosteum with each stroke. The supplier catalogue lists it in its implant periosteals group, next to the LaBanca, Buser and Sicilia patterns.
What the Wide Spoon Does
A narrow elevator starts a flap well, yet it can tear tissue when pushed across a wide area. By contrast, a wide spoon spreads the force. As a result, the flap tends to lift in one even sheet. The concave shape also follows the curve of the ridge, so it stays in contact with bone.
When to Reach for It
Many surgeons first release the flap margin with a sharper, narrower instrument. Then they switch to the wide spoon to free the bulk of the flap quickly. It is also useful for holding the reflected tissue away while the osteotomy is prepared. Choice of instrument at each stage stays with the operator.
Single Pattern, Shown in the Photos
This page offers one catalogue pattern, and no further dimensions are printed for it. Therefore, please study the photos to compare spoon width and handle shape with the elevators you already use. Also, our team can answer specific questions before you place an order.
Quality Checks and Reprocessing
The elevator is surgical stainless steel. A technician in the United States examines the spoon edge for nicks prior to packing. Since it leaves us unsterile, put the wide spoon through cleaning and a validated sterilizer cycle before flap reflection. We stand by the spoon and handle with three years against manufacturing defects, counted from delivery.
Steel details appear in ASTM F899. Browse the implant instruments collection, start the incision line with a Buser periosteal elevator, or open our FAQs.
Made available to trained implant and oral surgeons. Please read the sterilization page and shipping policy as well.
